Chateau Phelan Segur Vintage 1969 AustraliaPhlan Sgur's history dates back to the late 18th Century, when Tipperary wine merchant Bernard O'Phelan arrived in Bordeaux. After marrying into the renowned Guestier family, he purchased the Saint Estphe properties Clos de Garramey and Sgur de Cabanac in 1805 and 1810, creating Chteau Sgur de Garramey, and built the Palladian chateau which remains there today. The property took on its current name at the start of the 20th Century when it was changed

Really nice wine

and fairly balanced

The Viré Clesse Cuvée Spéciale is a blend of several plots aged between 45 and 75 years

which contains 13 editions to date

1984 was not declared as a vintage so much of the wine produced was used for blends with a few single quinta wines and late bottle vintage ports

It can age gracefully over many decades
